The four categories

Shishu (≤₹50K), Kishore (₹50K–₹5L), Tarun (₹5L–₹10L), Tarun Plus (₹10L–₹20L for borrowers with clean repayment history).

Where to apply

Any scheduled commercial bank, small finance bank, RRB, MFI or eligible NBFC. Applications can go through the Jan Samarth portal or directly at a branch.

What banks actually look for

Clean KYC, a clear purpose, a realistic projection, and bank-statement discipline. Shishu is near-automatic for eligible files; Tarun takes more work.
